“If you want to see time fly, ask for a two-week adjournment.” I heard a Judge say this during a CLE a few years ago and he was absolutely correct. As the work load becomes heavier the time seems to fly faster and faster.
Time moves at an unnatural pace when you are a lawyer. Sometimes I have to work on the adjourned assignment as if it is due immediately or put extra reminders in my calendar in order to avoid putting it on the back burner and going into panic mode 13 days later. You can’t control the time, but you can always acknowledge how fast it moves in certain circumstances and plan accordingly.
